Soil wetting application tips

Table of Contents

The soil wetting agent, also known as a surfactant, is a chemical product designed to improve the ability of water to penetrate and spread through soil. It reduces the surface tension of water, allowing it to move more freely through hydrophobic (water-repellent) soil, which can sometimes resist water absorption due to organic matter buildup or compacted conditions.

Uses of Soil Wetting Agents:
Gardening & Landscaping: Helps water reach plant roots more efficiently, reducing water waste and improving plant health.
Agriculture: Enhances irrigation efficiency in large-scale farming.
Turf Management: Commonly used on golf courses and lawns to prevent dry patches.
Reclaiming Water-Repellent Soils: Particularly useful in areas with sandy or drought-affected soils.

Types:
Liquid Wetting Agents: Easy to apply using a sprayer.
Granular Wetting Agents: Spread over the soil surface and watered in.
Organic Wetting Agents: Often made from natural substances like yucca extracts.

Application Tips:
Apply during early morning or late afternoon to avoid evaporation.
Always water in thoroughly after application.
Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for dosage.
